What to Bring & Key Tips
When booking your entrance ticket to Machu Picchu, you must choose one of the three official circuits established by the Ministry of Culture. This choice is made at the time of reservation, not upon arrival at the site, and once inside the citadel it cannot be changed.
Circuit 1: A short panoramic route that offers the classic postcard views of Machu Picchu from higher vantage points. It is perfect for visitors mainly interested in photography. View official map here.
Circuit 2: The most complete circuit, combining the panoramic viewpoint with an internal route that covers iconic sectors such as the Main Plaza and the Temple of the Three Windows. View official map here.
Circuit 3: A shorter and more accessible route designed for those who prefer a simpler visit or have limited time. It includes important areas such as the Temple of the Sun and the Inka House. View official map here.
👉 In conclusion, Circuit 2 is the most recommended option, offering a complete experience with both panoramic views and a deeper exploration of Machu Picchu’s main structures.
📌 Since spaces are limited and sell out quickly, we strongly recommend checking availability directly with Machu Picchu Elevation, where we provide up-to-date ticket information and help you choose the circuit that best fits your travel experience.

Q: What is the elevation of Machu Picchu, and will altitude affect my visit?
A: Machu Picchu sits at 2,430 meters (7,972 feet) above sea level. While it is not the highest point in the Andes, its elevation can still affect travelers who are not acclimatized. Many visitors are surprised to learn that Cusco, the main gateway city, is actually much higher at 3,399 meters (11,152 feet). Because of this, it is common for travelers to feel symptoms of altitude sickness in Cusco rather than at Machu Picchu itself.
